This year's edition of the FGCU Hockey Club refuses to take no for an answer.

After finishing last season with just one loss in regular season play, this year's squad is undefeated through 27 games, with a lone tie against Division I foe University of Missouri.

FGCU Eagles baseball team will begin their season on Feb. 17, with one major difference from last year, and that is youth.  This year the Eagles have 24 underclassmen and only 10 upperclassmen as opposed to previous seasons where it had more veteran players.

Freshman Bernard Thompson came to Florida Gulf Coast University this year after taking Rockdale County High School to the Georgia 4A State Championship for the first time since 1987.

Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball team is really good.  They are 19-2 overall, a perfect 11-0 in the Atlantic Sun and they are gaining praise nationally.  Statistically, they are one of the top 15 teams in the country, and they are projected to be a 13 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. 

A new registered student organization (RSO) currently accepting new members is the FGCU Rock Climbing and Adventure Club.

Saturday's swimming and diving home meet versus Florida International University had a familiar tone for the "Perfect Seniors," notching a 198-99 win to move to 5-0 in Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) meets.

The FGCU Softball team volunteered with Habitat For Humanity Of Lee & Hendry County.

After going through conference play once this season, the FGCU women's basketball team (17-2, 9-0 A-Sun) starts its second round of conference play as they host Mercer (3-17, 1-8 A-Sun) Jan. 26.

"As we start the second round of conference play we have to keep our focus," head coach Karl Smesko said. 

The Florida Gulf Coast University swimming & diving team is working on a historic streak of 21 consecutive conference wins after defeating UNF and Georgia Southern this past weekend.

The Eagles (10-2, 4-0 CCSA) had six first-place finishes at UNF on Friday and followed on Saturday with 11 wins at Georgia Southern.

FGCU men's golf begins its spring season next week in Jacksonville hoping to earn a top 50 national ranking.

The Eagles finished the fall season ranked No. 82 in the country.

He may only be a freshman, but after improving his overall record to an impressive 5-3 mark following two singles victories in the FGCU Invitational earlier this the month, Tianyu Bao is definitely someone that the FGCU Men's Tennis team has high hopes for.

The FGCU Atlantic Sun champion men's soccer team's spring training season is about to kick into gear this Sunday when they welcome two major league soccer teams, the Chicago Fire and DC United, to FGCU for an exhibition match.

Despite shooting just 28 percent, the lowest rate of the season, the FGCU (17-2, 9-0 A-Sun) women's basketball team had a huge final five minutes to defeat the Stetson Hatters (16-5, 7-2 A-Sun) 59-55. 

FGCU women's softball held their first practice of the 2012 season Jan. 17 at the FGCU Softball Complex. For two hours, players participated in a series of batting, fielding and pitching drills in preparation of a season head coach David Deiros hopes will end with postseason play.

The FGCU women's tennis team battled with big-name programs at its invite last weekend in preparation for the upcoming dual meet season.
