Students face 15 percent hike in tuition
Empowered by the Florida Legislature and driven by current economic woes, the FGCU Board of Trustees approved a tuition increase of 15 percent for the 2009-10 school year.
This brings tuition costs for in-state undergraduates to $4,642 per academic year based on a typical 15-credit-hour semester, compared to the national average of $6,585 at state universities.…

Lawsuit, discipline on docket
Former Provost Bonnie Yegidis filed a federal gender discrimination lawsuit early this month. Yegidis claims that during her three-year tenure from 2004 through 2007, she was placed in a sexually hostile environment. Yegidis alleges after the Title IX gender equity dealings, she was retaliated against and ultimately forced to resign because of her urgings for better compliance.…

Campus Veterans carries the banner
The first university-initiated veterans organization for students, faculty, and staff was organized effective May 5.

1) Thursday, May 7 at 4:50 p.m.: A bicycle was stolen from student housing.
2) Monday, May 18 at 4:34 p.m.: The Bloodmobile knocked over a cement pole in front of the union.
3) Tuesday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m.: An alligator was on the lawn by the library. It meandered from the front pond to the pond at the back of the library without much disturbance.…
